Packing for New Mexico

Lisa is going to have to pack light since she has a pile of things to take out to the grandchildren. Carrie found a bunch of fabric at her Hobby Lobby for a $1.50 a yard and shipped it to us.  She asked Lisa to make Bayleigh some dresses.   She also made a new shirt for Wyatt and appliqued a few t-shirts. We think they all turned out very cute.So here are the creations.

This pinafore is a size 2 so Bayleigh will have to wait until next year to wear it.

This one and the next one are the same pattern and Bayleigh already has been wearing one similar to it in a smaller size for 6 months. Carrie loves this pattern.

Thanks to pinterest I found some cute patterns that people posted for free.

This one is really red; not pink as it looks.

Island Workhorse

I just love my island. It does so many things. Today I replanted all my seedlings into bigger pots.  It was amazing to see how many roots were developed in the little potting cups I used.  It was obviously time for bigger pots.  This should last until they go in the ground. Next week I will probably move them to the back screened porch. They need to harden off. Our friend Bridget will come to water them while we are in New Mexico.  Until then they will spend the next week under these grow lights.

It was a beautiful weekend

Patrick spent the majority of the weekend outside. On Saturday he finished staining the deck which I started back when was hunting. He also constructed 2 more raised beds for the garden. He got to "play" outside while I spent the day with my 3 quilting friends from church. A trip to Mary Jo's cloth store in Gastonia is always a fun time.  On Sunday he pruned the blueberry bushes and we planted 25 strawberry plants.

He also finished this beautiful mirror for our bedroom closet.  We purchased a cheap mirror from Wally World and took off the junky plastic frame.  We designed this frame to go around it and he proceeded to construct it.  He  was able to put the finish coats on it this weekend since we had beautiful temperatures.   We will hang it tonight when he gets home from work.  I am home sick today with sinus drainage and a sore throat.  Work does not want us on campus if we have any illness since we have such a fragile population.  So even though I fell relatively fine I have to stay home today.  Too bad, so sad........  as usual I have a list of things I can accomplish today.  I better get busy, the clock is ticking.
